Thanks to all of you who voted us into the top 50 of 443 projects. Voting has closed, but that doesn't mean we've given up!
Menstruation is part of young women's development, but sometimes it can hold them back. Globally, many girls lack access to safe menstrual hygiene products and education on the subject. Girls may miss up to a week of school per month if their family cannot afford sanitary products, meaning lower educational attainment and lower eventual wages. Research indicates that women in India desire sanitary pads, but high costs and poor distribution networks limit access. Life-improving Ventures is planning to implement a community-based project to increase access to sanitary pads in under-served schools in Andhra Pradesh, India, and to work with community leaders to ensure sustained access to sanitary pads and the individual and community benefits of increased education.
You can help us raise up to $2,500 for this initiative. Please vote for our project on GOOD Maker. Voting ends on April 17th, 2012.
